Jennifer Cooke, PT, DPT
Lead Physical Therapist

Jennifer is the physical therapist at University Physical Therapy at the Orange County Sportsplex.  Jennifer went to UNC for her undergraduate and graduate training.  She graduated from UNC with her Masters in Physical Therapy in 2003 and then became a Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2008.  Jennifer has primarily practiced in orthopedics.  Clinical interests and expertise include shoulder, knee, and lower extremity conditions. She also has advanced training in prenatal and postpartum physical therapy, orthotics fabrication, functional movement and corrective exercise, and advanced manual therapy techniques. This training has allowed Jennifer to blend manual therapy and exercise prescription for positive patient outcomes.In addition to clinical practice, Jennifer also teaches physical therapy doctoral students and physical therapy residents through UNC.

Debbie Thorpe, PT, PhD

Debbie received her BS in physical therapy from the University of New England, her MS in Motor Development and Motor Learning from West Virginia University, and her PhD in pediatric physical therapy from the Medical College of Pennsylvania and Hahnemann University. She holds leadership positions in national and international research consortiums investigating aging and developing interventions to improve function in individuals with cerebral palsy. Dr. Thorpe’s clinical practice focuses primarily on neurological rehabilitation in individuals with developmental disabilities. She has particular expertise in aquatic therapy. Many of her patients have age-related changes in gait and balance abilities secondary to neurological or orthopedic disorders. Dr. Thorpe’s own research focuses on improving fitness and wellness across the lifespan in individuals with developmental disabilities.
